levodopa carbidopa

Pregnancy—
Adequate and well-controlled studies in humans have not been done. However, case studies have reported that levodopa crosses the placenta and is metabolized in the fetal tissues.

Reproduction studies in rodents have shown that levodopa, when given in doses in excess of 200 mg per kg of body weight (mg/kg) per day, depresses fetal and postnatal growth and viability. Also, studies in rabbits have shown that levodopa alone or in combination with carbidopa causes visceral and skeletal malformations.
